Rihanna: Artist Spotlight | Black History Edition
It's been four years since Rihanna released her eighth album Anti. She might have taken a big step back from making music, but that hasn't stopped her from leaving her mark on pop culture history.
The pop artist broke ground in the makeup world with her line Fenty Beauty, back in 2017. Rihanna spearheaded the success of Fenty Beauty by creating makeup for every skin color and raked in $72,000,000 within its first month of launching.
Riding on the success of her makeup line, Rihanna expanded her Fenty brand by announcing her clothing line Fenty x Savage in 2019. In collaboration with Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, Rihanna became the first black woman to have a luxury brand under MHLV. Her clothing line won her the prestigious Urban Luxe Fashion Award.
It's still up in the air of when the singer will release new music. But with the success of her other endeavors, it's hard to complain. Just tonight, Rihanna received the President's Award at the 2020 NAACP Image Awards for special achievements and public service. "If there's anything that I've learned, it's that we can only fix this world together. We can't do it divided," says Rihanna.
Rihanna's release of her ninth album continues to stay elusive, but she is keeping her influential reign over the world.
